After being introduced to Gerri at Tejada Kennels in Victoria, we purchased our first Bichon Frise in December 2001 - Aust Ch Tejada Niknak Paddywack ['Nikki"]. Quite a learning curve with regard the grooming after having had such an easy breed for so many years. Nikki and Fiona travelled the show circuit in Far North Queensland where Nikki soon attained her Australian Championship. Nikki has now retired from the ring but still rules the roost at home.
Our second Bichon Aust Ch Tejada Catsouta The Bag ["Parker"] arrived in March 2003. He was already 9 months of age but it did not take long for him to make himself right at home. Parker has also now retired from the show ring but not that he minds running with all the girls - he considers himself the rose among the thorns!
Next to join our Bichon family was Aust Ch Tejada Lookat Yourheart ["Maddie"]. Maddie exceeded all our expectations in the show ring obtaining her Australian Championship, qualifying for our Zone Top Puppy finals and going on to win Runner Up Top Puppy for Zone 3 all in the one year (2006). Unfortunately we were FIFO at the State Finals but the experience was one never to be forgotten none the less.
Mollabru Incarnation ["Indy"] & Mollabru Cleopatra ["Cleo"] then doubled the trouble. Being litter sisters - these girls are as thick as thieves. Although Cleo has never and will never be in the show ring, Indy stepped up to the plate and held her own against her more experienced counterparts. Indy has now also retired from the ring.
Aust Ch Mollabru Stolen Moment ["Stollie"] was next to grace us with his presence. An over eager Parker brought him to us a little earlier than planned but Stollie is now the big man about the house. His casual yet regal attitude towards life and the show ring has proven to be very successful with 2 Baby in Groups and a Baby Puppy in Show at his 1st ever weekend of Shows - not to mention the title of #1 Bichon Frise Rising Star for 2008 (dogzonline pointscore).
